As Balsu, we are now taking our experience, knowledge and expertise of more than 45 years in hazelnut one step further.

Very soon, with the Activated Carbon that we will obtain from hazelnut shells in our factory using patented high technology, we will be offering an innovative, environmentally friendly and 100% domestic raw material product that is needed by many different sectors in Turkey and in the world with all its varieties. This new product, which is the first Activated Carbon to be obtained from hazelnut shells through mass production in Turkey and will be offered under the Hendex brand, will be made available to the market in 2025.

The Technology Strategy Score (TSP) given by the Ministry of Industry and Technology to investments in technological products that Turkey imports was realized as 85.65 points out of 100 for the Balsu Hendex Activated Carbon investment, thus this investment has taken its place among Turkey’s top technological investments. In addition, Balsu was invited to the prestigous High Tech Turkey HIT-30 event and received a certificate of appreciation for its Active Carbon investment.

The story of this major project, for which the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) Report issued by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has been received, is based on our vision of using the resources offered by nature in the most efficient way. By going beyond the use of hazelnut shells as waste, we will process this natural raw material in our environmentally friendly, high-capacity, high quality and safe production facilities using high technology, and create high added value to replace imported products.

Hendex Activated Carbon products will be used for purification, air and water filtration purposes in precious metal, automotive, white goods, energy storage, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, textile, mining, metal, electronics and defense industries.

We firmly believe that we will become one of the world’s leading companies in the field of Activated Carbon as we are already in the hazelnut, as a result of producing Activated Carbon by processing within time over 100 thousand tons of hazelnut shells per year and obtaining renewable energy and soil additives from the synthesis gas released from production.

On the other hand, Balsu will be the world’s first and only energy independent hazelnut organization by generating electricity from hazelnut shells.
